Swarming bacteria “scream” when they die, warning their fellow bacteria of danger. These screams are not audible; instead, they are chemical alarms that the bacteria broadcast while on they are close to death, an action commonly referred to as necrosignaling. Through necrosignaling, bacteria alert their fellow bacteria to presence of a looming threat and save the majority of the swarm (a bacterial colony that is on the move). When confronted by a threat such as antibiotics, the bacteria’s chemical death cries can provide survivors enough time to go through mutations that develop antibiotic resistance, scientists have reported in a study. Several species of bacteria swim around with the support of long tail-like structures referred too as flagella, which helps them swiftly. And occasionally, bacteria such as Escherichia coli (E. coli) gather in the billions and use their flagella to move together over solid surfaces, as a swarm. “Bacterial swarms are…

Humans once thought our planet was the physical center of the solar system, so it is no surprise that we also think highly of consciousness, the apparently unique quality that allows our species to contemplate such issues. But what actually is consciousness? The subject has been extremely controversial in philosophic and scientific circles. Thinkers have spent an immeasurable amount of time and ink attempting to shine a light on some of the world’s biggest mysteries, such as how consciousness functions and where it is. The short answer is not particularly gratifying. Scientists and philosophers still cannot agree on a general idea of what consciousness is, much less a concrete definition. One reason for that is that the concept is used to mean a few different things. Some experts agree, however, that conscious beings are aware of their surroundings, themselves, and their own perception. But the long answer leaves room for…

No matter what perspective I look at it from, dieting patterns have taken a nosedive in recent years. We have almost completely forgotten the importance of a balanced diet. The meals we consume nowadays are loaded with energy, fats, and sugars. Vitamin-giving foods such as fruits and vegetables have been pushed so far into the rear that it’s a wonder when greens appear on our plates. Due to this unhealthy eating habit, many non-communicable diseases such as cardiac diseases, diabetes, and strokes have become rampant. Diet Plans Professionals have come up with various dieting techniques that aim to mitigate the diverse effects that unhealthy eating has brought upon people. Folks, I must admit that working out is typically a personal task. Yes, I say it is personal because each of us has their own approach to exercising. While some of us view exercise as an opportunity to be alone (think yoga), other people exercise to socialize. Whether we choose to exercise as individuals or in a group, each of these approaches comes with its own perks. Thus, we cannot say that individual exercise is better than group exercise or vice versa. To help you better appreciate the unresolved debate of individual vs. group exercise, let us look at each’s advantages. Due to limited space, I will restrict myself to just two benefits for each, which I think are the most important.   Benefits of Individual Workouts Freedom: By our very nature, most of us don’t like being controlled by others. Outdoor Photography

Have you noticed that the quality of photos taken indoors is never the same as those produced outside? We are passionate about shooting landscapes to bring out its natural beauty with particular angles and shutter speeds. We are also comfortable creating spectacular footage from the indoor world. In our projects, we have discovered the pros and cons of both styles of shooting. Indoor Photography A studio set up allows us to have complete reign over the environment.
